We are seeking a highly skilled Research Specialist to join our R&D team. Reporting to the Head of Research, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing research programs in the areas of implantable medical devices and regenerative medicine. This role involves hands-on experimental work, project planning, and technology scouting to drive innovation for the company.


Key Responsibilities

• Focus on innovative scaffold designs for regenerative medicine, in vitro/in vivo biological response, knowledge of biological mechanisms of material/tissue interactions.

• Develop new product candidates for regenerative medicine applications.

• Actively contribute to idea generation and evaluate their impact on clinical needs, product quality, regulatory aspects, and manufacturing feasibility.

• Generate new knowledge, products, and processes through research and experimentation.

• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with the Head of Research and R&D Management team.

• Collaborate in designing and managing project plans and budgets.

• Identify and mitigate potential project risks, ensuring smooth execution.

• Provide regular updates on project progress and challenges.

• Help oversee project budgets and maintain thorough documentation.

• Plan, execute, and analyze experiments for R&D initiatives.

• Supervise and conduct desk research activities.

• Contribute to the transfer of research projects to manufacturing.

• Continuously scout emerging technologies relevant to company goals.

• Participation in congresses/conferences/trade fairs.

• Contribute to publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conference speeches.


Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, or a related field.

• 2-5 years of research experience in medical devices, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, or related field.

• Hands-on experience in designing, manufacturing, characterizing, and evaluating scaffolds for tissue regeneration.

• Strong knowledge of polymeric materials, with a focus on natural polymers.

• Familiarity with medical device quality systems and design control procedures is a plus.

• Biological background is a plus.

• Expertise in silk fibroin properties and processing is a strong advantage.

• Experience with electrospinning techniques is a plus.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to convey complex technical information effectively.

• Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and team leadership.

• Experience in managing external partners and suppliers to meet project goals.

• Proficiency in both Italian and English.
